"This program has been beneficial with helping me heal my relationship with food which I think in turn is slowly helping me with my image/relationship with my body. This will be something that I will continue working on after the program ends but has given me a good starting point"

"Shout out to Sam! She has given me so much great advice and guidance... as a result, I was able to do single arm low rows with a 40 POUND DB and sumo deadlifts with a 60 POUND DB. Before I met Samantha, I would have been so burned out from doing 5-6 classes per week on a keto diet that I wouldn't have been able to even lift those weights off the rack! Sam is my favorite trainer!"

"I have gained self forgiveness. It's early but I'm starting to feel myself be more forgiving and nicer to myself for still engaging in unhealthy eating habits or thinking like a dieter. I feel like I'm changing how I treat myself."

"This program challenges me to go outside my "comfort zone" and change the habits i grew up with while also allowing me to make baby steps to change these 20 years worth of unwanted habits."

"I have been able to allow myself to eat and snack throughout the day which then allows me to make more nutritious choices most of the time. I love the community aspect and the Q&A sessions where we can brainstorm and realize that other people are going through this too in their own way!"

"It helped me get more relaxed with my way of thinking for both eating/nutrition and exercise. I always thought they both had to be so strict and regimented. I feel like I have so so many more options open to me now, whereas before, when I couldn't adhere to the box I put myself in I would feel guilty, eat out or eat something that was 'bad' and then feel guilty again for doing that."

"I’ve been working with Sam since April 2021 and I have noticed a significant difference in my mental health as well as how I view food and exercise. I had gained weight through the pandemic and I wanted to lose weight but did not want to slip back into disordered and unhealthy habits. I found Sam through a family friend and she has helped me begin to heal and I have made progress even just over the last five months. We have discussed many of my food concerns and how I can best serve and take care of my body; however, my main struggle has been with my relationship with exercise. I used to feel that I had to work out for an hour or two everyday, obsess over calories burnt and judge my health based on my Apple Watch rings. Through working with Sam, I have been able to get back to the gym and work out in a way that I enjoy and that best serves my body. She has helped me overcome many of my fears, concerns and disordered thoughts. I have never felt judged, dismissed or that I couldn’t share something with her and she creates an incredibly safe and open space to talk about these issues we all face in some way or another. I could not recommend her enough and I am so happy with the work we’ve done so far!"

"I have so much to say about working with Sam, I feel like I can’t fit it all into writing. If you’re thinking about working with her - whether it be for nutrition, personal training, or both - take the leap. Sam has become so much more than a mentor and trainer to me, she has become a friend and what has felt like an older sister; not to mention her credentials are more than any other trainer I’ve worked with. Her sessions are entirely client-focused, unique to my personality, history, and goals, and more importantly, are FUN and confidence-building. I was always scared to work out with a trainer for fear of body shaming or ED-focused methodology, but because Sam has first-hand experience with an ED and is specialized in ED recovery, I NEVER worry about feeling ashamed or uncomfortable with her. She has fostered an open and honest relationship and training environment where it feels like two friends hanging out rather than trainer-trainee. I would recommend Sam to anyone struggling with food, body image, ED recovery, or just someone looking to learn more about working out while having fun. I anticipate working with Sam as long as I live in Cleveland!"

"I am new to personal training and was incredibly anxious about the whole idea (so anxious | cried the first time!). I found Sam through a colleague of mine and thought this could be a good fit. Sam is FANTASTIC. She is incredibly kind, approachable, and super knowledgeable. She was able to meet me exactly where I was at and has been able to scaffold the work for me as I have gotten more experience and more strength I feel comfortable trying harder things with her and I'm getting better at feeling proud of myself. As someone with a 20 year long struggle with a restrictive eating disorder, I have a mixed relationship with exercise and I knew I needed a trainer who could understand that perspective and Sam brings that expertise -- so that even if I'm having a day where weight-loss is my focus, Sam can remind me about the strength and confidence I've gained and why that is what's important. I was really worried that working with a personal trainer was going to fuel a back into eating disordered behavior and it's done the exact opposite. Sam celebrates my wins with me and she genuinely cares about how I'm doing. I don't always love the idea of working out, especially after a long-day, but I am always glad to meet up with Sam and grateful for the experience. Sam is a game-changer."

"I learned that just simply moving my body is exercise and it can come in many different forms. I don't have to be out of breath or sweating like I just ran a marathon in order for it to "count" as exercise. I also learned that I don't need to workout in a consecutive time frame. For instance I thought I never had the time to work out because I needed to dedicate an hour a day to it. I don't know why but the thought never occurred to me that I can break that up into 15 minute increments. Joyful movement can happen anywhere and I don't need to be in a class or gym for it to "count". I also learned that I don't need to follow recipes and meal plan based on them in order to cook nutritious meals. I can make full meals from staples that I have on hand and aren't extravagant."

"Working with Sam has not only given me the confidence to know how to properly lift on my own, but the space to enjoy movement without an attachment to weight loss. Sam has shown me that weight lifting can be a truly empowering thing."

"What I once thought of health and fitness is not, what I like to call, true health and wellness. I am learning that for me, "What you need to do" (high intensity workouts, cardio everyday, cutting out food groups) is very extreme and honestly, probably the reason I would quit 75% of the time in the past. That being said, I still feel that I have a long way to go but I am starting to find comfort in listening to my body and realizing that it is ok to eat ALL foods and do a 20 mins workout if that's all you have time for. It all counts and it's all beneficial to my well being."
